I grew up in a pretty photographic family - my dad ran the local camera shop and taught photo courses at a local College. Ever since the first time he had me in a darkroom and I saw that first print come to life, I've been hooked. I went to and eventually taught at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) in a program that transitioned from Photographic Science to Imaging Science while I was there. I went from formulating photographic developers to helping build RIT's first digital image processing lab. Timing can matter. At RIT I had the good fortune to get exposed to early digital photography in about 1980 when it wasn't as easy, fast or good. Today, I'm in awe of how good digital cameras are and how little that matters in the pursuit of a good image. I still shoot film and hope to always be able to.
